Frances Lu-Pai Ippolito, whose work also appeared in Mother: Tales of Love and Terror, is back with another wonderful tale of terror for Playlist of the Damned! We’re thrilled that she has chosen to return to our little corner of weirdness for another of excellent storytelling.
Frances Lu-Pai Ippolito is a Chinese-American writer, judge, and mother. When she’s not spending time with her family outdoors in the Pacific Northwest, she’s crafting short stories in horror, sci-fi, fantasy, or whatever genre-bending she can get away with. Her stories have appeared in Nailed Magazine, Buckman Journal’s Issue 006, and will be included in upcoming anthologies. Her work was also featured in the Ooligan Press Writers of Color Showcase 2020 in Portland, Oregon.
Frances learned her love of all things horror from her grandmother. Horror crosses language and cultural barriers with honest, raw emotions and situations that are easy to become caught up in.
She saw the lack of cultural role models on the bookshelves growing up and notices the slow growth and work that still needs to be done in this area. So, instead of complaining, she rolled up her sleeves and began filling up the gap with her own stories.
In her free time, she serves as a first reader for magazines, volunteers with her local writing group, Willamette Writers, and has a particular interest in mentoring youth and young writers. She’s also a member of the Horror Writers Association, Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators, and Northwest Independent Writer’s Association.
The Weird Team is comprised of several unhinged individuals that have a love of life and a lust for adventure. They scour the world to find the strangest, scariest, and most wonderful news in the universe.
