Meet the Band: Hailey Piper


July 17, 2023

Hailey Piper, author extraordinaire, and contributor to Mother: Tales of Love and Terror, is back with a brand-new story for the upcoming anthology Playlist of the Damned. How cool is that? Thanks for your talent, Hailey!

Once hailing from the haunted woods of New York, Hailey began writing at age seven or eight with dinosaurs and Michael Crichton as fuel for her muse. She didn’t become starry-eyed and find her real passion until reading Stephen King’s It during her teen years. Further reading and writing over the years have honed her craft into amazing works of fiction that focus on the powerless, the marginalized. Horror is a genre of honesty and healing for Hailey Piper. It is a place to explore human nature and desires that shape who we are and how we see the world.

Hailey Piper is the Bram Stoker Award-winning author of Queen of Teeth. She is also a Locus Award Finalist and an active member of the Horror Writers Association, with articles and stories appearing in Tor Nightfire, CrimeReads, Library Journal, Pseudopod, Vastarien, Cast of Wonders, Cosmic Horror Monthly, and various other publications.

She lives with her wife in Maryland, where they spend weekends summoning goat monsters and singing to the moon. Find Hailey at www.haileypiper.com, on Twitter as @HaileyPiperSays, and on Instagram/TikTok/Tumblr/BlueSky as @haileypiperfights.

Hailey chose “Self Control” by Laura Branigan as the song to represent her and her work in the Playlist of the Damned author compilation because it is a personal favorite.
