MOTHER FUNDED! Submissions Extended to June 1st, Word Count Upped

May 9, 2022

The Kickstarter for MOTHER: TALES OF LOVE AND TERROR ended at midnight on Mother’s Day, May 8th with a bang. With the addition of a few last-minute pledges, the total funds raised for the anthology project exceeded $8200—more than enough to cover the costs of increased word limits, black and white art plates, custom stickers, and an increased word count ceiling.

An additional benefit that came at the end of the Kickstarter was a miscommunication of the final submission deadline. Although all the marketing and submission page for the project stated that the final due date for stories and poetry was May 15th, a very observant author noted that the timeline showed the deadline as June 1st. Due to this mistake, co-editors Christi Nogle and Willow Becker have extended the final deadline for stories up to June 1st at 12am Mountain Time, giving writers a full 3 more weeks to craft, edit, and submit stories.

In another turn of events, poetry rates for the project were also increased, with pay up to $1 per line. Length of poems is still capped at 50 lines, but the additional pay increase was an unexpected bonus for the MOTHER project reaching its first stretch goal.

These pieces of news may come as welcome surprises to authors who just learned about the project or those who had written work but it ended up being longer than the previous 3k word limit.
