As of January 2024, Weird Little Worlds Press is pleased to announce its membership as a part of the Independent Book Publishers Association. As a part of the group, WLW Press and its authors will have increased access to distribution, new business support structures, and collaboration opportunities not previously available.
The move was spurred by CEO Willow Dawn Becker’s interest in a larger-scale collaboration that would extend past the Indie Horror Collaborative and give the press access to speculative fiction presses outside of the horror space.
“I have loved working with the horror presses as a part of the Collaborative,” Becker said, “but I really wanted to increase our reach, and the IBPA was a great avenue.”
The IBPA is a not-for-profit membership organization with over 4000 members. It is the “largest publishing trade association in the U.S.,” according to the group’s website. In addition to offering discounts on publishing-level programs like NetGalley and voice over marketplaces for audio book creation, there is a wealth of resources, educational opportunities, and networking that will help Weird Little Worlds as it stretches into its next phase of growth.
“We are getting ready for the business year we’ve ever had,” Becker said. “It’s awesome to have this as a tool in our arsenal for distribution, promotion, and all that.”
