Meet the Band- Mercedes M. Yardley

April 13, 2023

Weird Little Worlds is thrilled to welcome Mercedes M. Yardley back. She will contribute to the awesome sound of Playlist of the Damned with a brand-new short story.

Mercedes M. Yardley is a whimsical dark fantasist who wears stilettos, red lipstick, and poisonous flowers in her hair. Also known as Miss Murder, Mercedes is a multi-award-winning author, including a recent shortlist nomination for the 2022 Bram Stoker Award for Excellence in Short Fiction for “Fracture”. “Fracture” appeared in last year’s WLW Kickstarter Mother: Tales of Love and Terror. You can experience the story for yourself on our blog.

Yardley’s other credits include:

Bram Stoker Finalist for Superior Achievement in Short Fiction — Loving You Darkly (2018)

Bram Stoker Award for Long Fiction — Little Dead Red (2015)

Reddit Fantasy Stabby Award Winner for Best Short Fiction — Apocalyptic Montessa and Nuclear Lulu: A Tale of Atomic Love (2013)

Mercedes M. Yardley has also graciously agreed to provide a 5000-word fiction edit/review for the first backer at the $143 level. There is also a Tuckerization up for grabs at the $155 level and a story consultation at the $177 level. It pays to get your backing in early!

Until Mercedes lets us in on the song that matches her new story for our Playlist, we’ve assigned her an appropriate theme song Miss Murder by AFI.
